How does Jesus represent the mercy of a consuming fire?

Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of God’s mercy, as depicted in various sacrificial offerings throughout Scripture. He willingly took on the wrath of God that was rightfully ours, allowing those who trust in Him to be spared from being consumed by the fire of divine judgment (2 Chronicles 6:42-7:1 shows God's acceptance of sacrifice).
