How does Jesus' righteousness relate to our faith?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus' righteousness is the foundation of our faith, as believers obtain faith through His accomplished work.

The righteousness of Jesus Christ is integral to the nature of saving faith. In 2 Peter 1:1, Peter explains that believers have 'obtained' faith through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ. This righteousness is both a provision and a prerequisite for faith, emphasizing that faith is anchored in what Christ has accomplished through His obedience and sacrificial death. Without the righteousness of Christ, faith would have no basis for justification before God. Hence, Christians cling to Jesus not only for the assurance of salvation but also for the righteousness that qualifies them before the Holy God (Romans 5:1).
