How does justification relate to prayer and obedience?

Answered in 1 source

Justification in Christ allows believers to be seen as righteous, thus connecting obedience and answered prayers (1 John 3:22).

Justification is a foundational doctrine that assures believers they are reconciled to God through Christ’s righteousness, not their own. This relational standing is vividly articulated in 1 John 3:22, where the act of keeping commandments is set against the backdrop of being justified in Christ. When we are in Christ, our identity as righteous allows us to approach God confidently in prayer. Obedience is an outworking of this justification, reflecting our transformed heart that desires to honor God. Thus, our prayers, founded on this relationship of justification, are met with responsiveness from God because He sees us through Christ, who perfectly obeyed the law.
