How does one abide in Christ according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Abiding in Christ means having a conscious desire to be fully dependent on Him for spiritual life, as stated in John 15:5.

In John 15:5, Jesus teaches that 'I am the vine, you are the branches,' illustrating that apart from Him, we can do nothing. To abide in Christ involves a deep, conscious reliance on Him for all aspects of life and faith. It's not merely about physical acts or obedience but a relationship that signifies total dependence. To abide in Him means that His life empowers our spiritual existence, and we draw sustenance from Him as branches draw nutrients from the vine. This relationship leads to the natural bearing of fruit in our lives, reflecting the work of the Holy Spirit, which can only happen when we are connected to Christ.
