How does one obtain assurance of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Assurance of salvation comes from faith in the person of Christ, not from rituals or deeds.

Assurance of salvation is deeply rooted in understanding that it is not by works or rituals that we are saved, but through faith in Jesus Christ. In John 3:36, it states, 'He who believes in the Son has everlasting life.' Therefore, true assurance comes from believing in the finished work of Christ on the cross rather than relying on past professions or ceremonies. The witness of the Holy Spirit within believers provides confidence, affirming that they are children of God (Romans 8:16). This assures them that if God be for us, who can be against us? Assurance rests entirely on the person of Jesus, who is both our Savior and intercessor.
