How does one receive forgiveness according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Forgiveness is received through faith in Jesus Christ and His redemptive work on the cross.

The Bible teaches that forgiveness is not something we can earn, but it is granted through faith in Jesus Christ. In Luke 7:47-50, Jesus explains that the one forgiven much will love much, indicating that our understanding of our own sinfulness and His grace impacts our worship and relationship with Him. It is through acknowledging our sins and looking to Christ in faith that we receive forgiveness. Ephesians 1:7 clarifies that in Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, demonstrating that forgiveness is fully obtained through His sacrificial act and our response of faith.
