How does one's nature affect their choices regarding God?

Answered in 1 source

A person's nature dictates their choices, leading them to choose sin over God unless changed by divine intervention.

The Bible teaches that our choices stem from our nature; in Jeremiah 13:23, the analogy of an Ethiopian changing his skin illustrates that a person cannot change their inherent sinful disposition. Therefore, unless God transforms the heart, a person will consistently choose against God, preferring sin. This is encapsulated in Romans 8:7-8, where the mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God and cannot submit to His law. It is only through the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit that one's desires and will can align with God's.
