How does oversimplification of the gospel affect belief?

Answered in 1 source

Oversimplification of the gospel leads to erroneous beliefs and a lack of reverence for God's true nature.

When the gospel is oversimplified to the point where it is easily understood by natural man, it creates a dangerous familiarity with God. Many believe they can grasp the complexities of Scripture without spiritual understanding, leading to arrogance and a lack of genuine faith. This attitude undermines the holiness and majesty of God, making Him overly familiar. Rather than recognizing the need for ongoing repentance and faith, individuals may rely on past decisions or experiences, thus missing the transformative relationship that comes from a continual coming to Christ and a deeper understanding of His grace. This misunderstanding ultimately jeopardizes one’s spiritual health and relationship with God.
