How does prayer transform our character?

Answered in 1 source

Prayer transforms our character by aligning our hearts with God's and instilling humility.

Prayer has a transformative power that directly affects our character as we engage authentically with God. As we come before Him in prayer, we are not only seeking His guidance but also allowing His presence to shape who we are (2 Corinthians 3:18). True prayer involves an honest heart, leading us to confront our pride, sinfulness, and weaknesses, thus fostering humility within us. As indicated in 1 Peter 5:6, when we humble ourselves under God's mighty hand, He exalts us at the proper time. The act of bringing our burdens, sins, and needs before God leads to a process of sanctification where He refines our hearts and shapes our thoughts (Romans 12:2). Consequently, consistent prayer not only impacts our relationships with God but also influences how we interact with others, making us more honorable in our conduct.
