How does preaching strengthen believers?

Answered in 1 source

Preaching strengthens believers by glorifying God, reaching the elect, and providing essential doctrinal understanding.

Preaching serves a threefold purpose: to glorify God, to seek out God's elect, and to strengthen believers. Through biblical preaching, God's glory is magnified as His character and redemptive plan are proclaimed. Furthermore, preaching is directed towards those whom God has chosen, encouraging them to come to faith. It also serves to edify believers, helping them grow in knowledge and grace. As believers are taught doctrine and reminded of Christ’s sufficiency, they are strengthened to face life's challenges and become more conformed to His image.
