How does predestination relate to our faith in Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Predestination teaches that God has chosen certain individuals for salvation, and it is by faith in Christ that they come to know their election (Ephesians 1:4-5).

In sovereign grace theology, predestination is the biblical doctrine that emphasizes God's sovereign choice in the electing of individuals for salvation before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4-5). This grace is not based on any foreseen merit of individuals but solely on God's purpose. While predestination assures believers of their eternal security, it also highlights the necessity of faith. As the elect respond to God's call, they exercise faith in Jesus Christ, which is essential for salvation. Thus, while our salvation is rooted in God's sovereign choice, our personal faith in Christ is the means through which that grace is realized in our lives.
