How does pride affect our ability to receive advice?

Answered in 1 source

Pride can blind us to wisdom and lead to contention, hindering our growth and relationship with God.

Proverbs 13:10 clearly states that pride is the source of contention. When we let pride govern our actions and thoughts, we become resistant to the wisdom that God offers through His Word and through others. This pride can lead to a refusal to seek help or to recognize our shortcomings, resulting in isolation from wise counsel. Furthermore, pride can create barriers in relationships, making it difficult for us to learn and grow. Acknowledging our need for guidance, rather than leaning on our own understanding, fosters a humility that opens us up to receive wisdom, ultimately drawing us closer to God’s will for our lives.
