How does pride affect relationships in the church?

Answered in 1 source

Pride disrupts unity and can lead to conflict among believers.

Pride effectively undermines relationships within the church by causing individuals to prioritize self over others, resulting in discord and strife. As noted in Proverbs 13:10, contention arises only by pride, highlighting its role as a root cause of conflict. In contrast, the unity of the Spirit calls believers to exhibit humility and love toward one another, as mentioned in Ephesians 4:2-3, where we are exhorted to bear with one another in love. When pride takes hold, it not only disturbs the peace but can also lead individuals to become defensive or vindictive, which hampers the growth and functionality of the church body as intended by Christ.
