How does sin impact our ability to follow God's commands?

Answered in 1 source

Sin creates a barrier that makes it difficult for us to care about or follow God's commands.

Sin deeply affects our nature, making us spiritually dead and resistant to God's commands. As the preacher noted, our first need is not advice but a new heart and life that values God's Word. Our spiritual death, inherited from Adam, leaves us indifferent to God’s commands. This indifference signifies our need for divine intervention to awaken our hearts and minds to recognize and obey God's truth. Only through regeneration can we begin to desire the wisdom and guidance that comes from our Creator.
