How does sin lead to darkness according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Sin leads to darkness by blinding individuals to the truth and separating them from God.

According to John 3:19, 'This is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.' Sin inherently darkens the heart and mind, preventing individuals from seeing the beauty and glory of God. In darkness, one cannot recognize their need for salvation or the righteousness of God. The Gospel acts as the light that breaks through this darkness, allowing sinners to see their predicament and the hope offered in Christ.
