How does skepticism play a role in seeking truth?

Answered in 1 source

Skepticism can be useful when it drives one to seek the truth through God's Word rather than relying on personal insight (Mark 12:34).

Skepticism, when applied constructively, can prompt individuals to explore deeper truths rather than accept surface-level interpretations. The scribe's initial approach to Christ was one of skepticism, as he sought to 'test' Jesus with his question (Mark 12:35). However, true skepticism should lead to a reverent searching of the Scriptures, evaluating all teachings against God's Word. As pointed out in the sermon, those who genuinely seek the truth, like the scribe, can find themselves closer to enlightenment if they approach God's Word with humility and a desire to learn. Seeking in humility allows for the revelation of truth, which ultimately guides towards a relationship with Christ, who is the way, the truth, and the life.
