How does someone come to believe according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

Someone comes to believe through hearing the Gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit.

The Bible teaches that faith comes from hearing the Gospel (Romans 10:17). It is not merely the act of hearing but involves a divine awakening through the Holy Spirit, who convinces the sinner of their need for Christ. A person cannot believe without first understanding the Gospel message, which is delivered through preaching. In essence, belief arises when the Spirit of God works in a person’s heart, leading them to both hear and understand the truth of the Gospel.
