How does sovereignty relate to the redemption of sinners?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty ensures that He will fulfill His redemptive promises to save a chosen people.

Sovereign grace teaches that God actively chooses whom He will save, as seen in Isaiah's prophecy. Romans 9 illustrates this by asserting that God has mercy on whom He desires and hardens whom He desires. This duality emphasizes God's complete control over salvation. Through His sovereign plan, Jesus Christ, the prophesied Messiah, came to redeem sinners from their state of sin. The assurance of His promise provides security for believers, confirming that their salvation is based on divine will and not human effort. Ephesians 1:4-5 encapsulates this by stating believers are chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world.
