How does the Ark of the Covenant represent God's presence?

Answered in 1 source

The Ark of the Covenant symbolizes God's presence and the means for atonement with His people.

The Ark of the Covenant represents a sacred space where God would meet with His people, specifically over the mercy seat. Within the Ark were items that represented the covenant, including the broken law and Aaron’s rod, signifying God's commandments and faithfulness. As conveyed in Exodus, it was only on the Day of Atonement that the High Priest would enter the Most Holy Place to make sacrifice for the people's sins. This reflects how Christ, as the ultimate High Priest, fulfilled this role by providing the means of reconciliation and establishing a new covenant with humanity.
