How does the blood of Jesus cleanse our sins?

The cleansing power of the blood of Jesus comes from its role as the ultimate sacrifice that fulfills God's requirements for justice. As stated in Romans 6:23, 'the wages of sin is death,' but through Christ, who was fully God and fully man, this payment was made on our behalf.
