How does the call of Christ bring life to the spiritually dead?

Answered in 1 source

The call of Christ is powerful and life-giving, enabling even the spiritually dead to respond and receive new life.

When Jesus called Lazarus from the grave, it represented the life-giving power of Christ’s call to all His elect. As Lazarus could not respond on his own, being dead, so too are sinners spiritually dead in their trespasses. However, when Christ speaks, He imparts life and the ability to respond in faith. This powerful call of grace is rooted in Christ's authoritative command, demonstrating that it is through Him alone that we receive spiritual life. Without this divine intervention, we remain lifeless in our sin; but when God calls, He not only awakens us but compels us to come to Him.
