How does the church contribute to salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The church does not grant salvation; it exists to proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ who alone saves.

While the church plays an essential role in the life of believers by teaching and proclaiming the gospel, it is crucial to understand that it does not dispense salvation. The church is composed of sinful individuals who can point to Christ, but it does not have the authority to offer remission of sins or merit salvation. As noted in the sermon, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, indicating that salvation must come directly from God through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Therefore, the church's role is to guide individuals toward Christ but does not act as a mediator in the salvation process; that is solely the work of Christ.
