How does the concept of God's sovereignty relate to prayer?

Answered in 1 source

God's sovereignty assures us that our prayers are part of His divine plan and purpose.

Understanding God's sovereignty is integral to appreciating the nature of prayer within a Christian context. God is sovereign over all creation, which means that everything happens according to His divine will and purpose. This can initially seem contradictory, especially when considering our responsibility in prayer. However, as illustrated in Daniel 9, prayer is a means through which God's ordained purposes are realized. Daniel did not approach God as if he could alter God’s decrees but rather sought to align himself and his prayers with what God had already revealed in His word. Thus, the believer's prayer is an act of faith that acknowledges God's control while also participating in His redemptive plans.
