How does the concept of redemption relate to grace?

Answered in 1 source

Redemption is fundamentally given through grace, as God freely chooses to forgive and reconcile His people (Romans 9:15-16).

The concept of redemption is intricately tied to God's grace, which is unmerited favor given to sinners. Romans 9:15-16 says, 'For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy.' This reinforces that our redemption is not based on our efforts or wills, but upon God's sovereign choice to extend grace. The cross of Christ illustrates this grace vividly, where the price of redemption was paid in full, satisfying divine justice while extending mercy to the undeserving. Therefore, to understand redemption is to deeply appreciate grace as the means through which God accomplishes our salvation.
