How does the concept of regeneration relate to belief?

Answered in 1 source

Regeneration is the process by which individuals are spiritually renewed, enabling them to believe in Christ for salvation.

Regeneration, or the new birth, is essential for understanding belief in Christ. Jesus explains to Nicodemus in John 3 that unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). This inward renewal is a work of the Holy Spirit that enables an individual to respond to the gospel in faith. Apart from this divine work, even a moral and religious person cannot enter God's kingdom. Thus, regeneration precedes genuine faith in Christ, demonstrating the sovereign grace of God in salvation where the Holy Spirit transforms hearts to believe in the only begotten Son.
