How does the Garden of Gethsemane relate to the concept of the covenant of grace?

Answered in 1 source

The Garden of Gethsemane represents the beginning of the fulfillment of the covenant of grace through Christ's suffering.

The Garden of Gethsemane holds a pivotal place in relation to the covenant of grace, as it is here that Jesus confronts the impending suffering he must endure to fulfill the covenant's terms. Unlike the covenant of works which Adam broke, the covenant of grace assures that salvation is based on Christ's righteousness, not human merit. As stated in Isaiah 55, God invites those who are spiritually bankrupt to come and partake of the grace offered in Jesus. This moment in Gethsemane is where Christ surrenders to the will of the Father, actively participating in the plan of redemption by facing the anguish that ultimately leads to crucifixion and resurrection, providing eternal life to all who believe.
