How does the gospel bring salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The gospel brings salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, who was lifted up for our transgressions.

Salvation through the gospel centers on the person and work of Jesus Christ, who was lifted up on the cross as a sin offering. John 3:14-15 connects the lifting up of Christ to the bronze serpent in the wilderness, indicating that just as the Israelites looked to the serpent and lived, so also must we look to Christ in faith to attain eternal life. This powerful act of looking to Christ, believing in Him, and His finished work on the cross secures our salvation. The preaching of the gospel conveys this truth and calls sinners to respond in faith, thus producing salvation.
