How does the Holy Spirit create a thirst for Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The Holy Spirit creates a thirst for Christ by giving us a new heart and nature that longs for fellowship with Him.

In John 7:39, we see that Jesus spoke of the Spirit whom believers would later receive. The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in awakening within us a sincere thirst for Christ. As indicated in Ezekiel 36, God promises to give us a new heart and a new spirit, instilling a genuine craving for His presence and righteousness. This transformation shifts our affections toward the things of God, leading us to desire deeper communion with Christ. It is through the Spirit's work that we begin to recognize our spiritual hunger and need for Christ, prompting us to come to Him continually for satisfaction and fulfillment.
