How does the Holy Spirit help in keeping God's commandments?

Answered in 1 source

The Holy Spirit empowers Christians by granting them a new heart and a principle of obedience to keep God's commandments (Jeremiah 31:33).

The role of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life is to instill a new heart, which fundamentally transforms our understanding and capacity to obey God's commandments. As stated in Jeremiah 31:33, God promises, 'I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts.' It is through the Holy Spirit's work in regeneration that believers receive a new nature that desires to obey God. This new heart and spirit instills a gracious principle of obedience within us, enabling us to delight in keeping His Word, rather than seeing it as a burden. Thus, the Holy Spirit is central to our ability to fulfill God's commands.
