How does the Holy Spirit work in the lives of sinners?

Answered in 1 source

The Holy Spirit convicts sinners of their need for Christ and draws them to repentance.

The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in the process of salvation by drawing sinners to Christ and illuminating their hearts to understand their desperate condition. Jesus indicated that the Spirit would convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). This work of the Holy Spirit involves enlightening the hearts of the lost, revealing the truth about their sinfulness, and instilling a desire to seek forgiveness. The Spirit also employs the Gospel as a lamp to guide those in darkness towards the light of Christ, ensuring that God’s chosen ones are effectively brought into relationship with Him.
