How does the Holy Spirit work in the salvation of the elect?

Answered in 2 sources

The Holy Spirit plays a crucial role by opening hearts to hear the gospel and enabling the elect to recognize and follow the Good Shepherd.

In John 10:27, Jesus states, 'My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.' This process is facilitated by the Holy Spirit, who acts as the porter, enabling individuals to hear and respond to the call of Christ. The Holy Spirit sovereignly awakens the elect, creating an interest in the gospel and revealing Christ to them. It is through the Spirit's work that sinners come to faith, affirming their identity as the sheep of Christ, chosen and redeemed by His grace.
