How does the law bring us to Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The law brings us to Christ by exposing our inability to meet its demands and revealing our need for a Savior.

The law functions to shut sinners up to Christ by highlighting the impossibility of achieving righteousness through legal obedience. Romans 3:20 explains that the law was given that every mouth may be stopped, indicating that it serves to reveal the guilt of man before God. When one acknowledges their sinfulness in light of the law, they become aware of their desperate need for the grace found in Christ. In this way, the law is not the means of salvation but a tutor that guides us to recognize Christ as the sole source of righteousness and salvation. The realization that one cannot win God's favor through works leads to the acceptance of Christ’s finished work at Calvary as the complete and sufficient means of salvation.
