How does the law relate to duty for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

For Christians, the law defines what is good, but duty is fulfilled in Christ's work rather than personal performance.

The law, as presented in Scripture, is holy, just, and good, serving as a guide for God's moral standard. However, Christians recognize that Jesus Christ fulfilled all the requirements of the law on their behalf. While the law shows believers the standard, it is Christ who liberates them from its condemning power through His sacrifice. This allows them to see duty not as a task to be performed but as gratitude for what Christ has accomplished; thus, their motivation becomes love rather than obligation.
