How does the law relate to God’s chosen people?

Answered in 1 source

The law was given to God’s elect as a means of guiding them to Christ.

Paul emphasizes that the law was specifically given for God's elect—the true Israel— to instruct and direct them toward Christ, their Savior. In Romans and Galatians, the law serves as a schoolmaster, revealing sin and exposing the need for grace found in Christ. This relationship illustrates the distinction between outward observance of the law and the inward spiritual reality that leads to salvation.

The law reflects God's holiness and His standard for righteousness, intended to show the elect their inability to meet that standard on their own. Through this revelation, the law ultimately leads to Christ, the fulfillment of the law. Paul makes it clear that all who believe in Christ are the true Israel, making them the recipients of the promises initially given to the physical nation of Israel, now fulfilled spiritually in Christ.
