How does the law relate to righteousness?

Answered in 1 source

The law reveals God’s requirements for righteousness, showing us our inability to meet them without Christ.

The law serves to reveal God’s holy requirements for righteousness, illustrating that perfection is necessary for acceptance with Him. Paul explains in Romans that by the law is the knowledge of sin and that the law leaves no room for human boasting. Instead, it exposes our sinfulness, leading us to realize our desperate need for a Savior. Only in Christ do we find true fulfillment of the law; He is the end of the law for all who believe. Thus, the law functions to bring us to Christ, where we find grace and righteousness not based on our works but on faith in Him.
