How does the law relate to salvation for believers?

Answered in 1 source

Believers are no longer under the law as a means to justify; they are free in Christ.

For believers, the law serves a different purpose after salvation; it highlights God's holiness and reveals our sinfulness. In Acts 15, Peter notes that the Jewish people could not bear the yoke of the law nor could the Gentiles (Acts 15:10). This indicates that the law was never designed to save but rather to point us to our need for Christ. Believers are declared righteous through faith in Christ and are thus no longer under the law (Romans 10:4) as a means of justification. The law, while still holy and just, serves to guide believers in their daily lives as they express their faith through love, not as a means to earn salvation but as a response to the grace that has already been bestowed upon them (Galatians 5:18).
