How does the law serve a purpose according to the sermon?

Answered in 1 source

The law serves to expose sin and lead us to Christ for justification by faith.

According to Galatians 3:19, the law was added 'because of transgressions' and serves to reveal sin. It acts as a schoolmaster, guiding us to Christ by showing our need for a Savior. The law cannot grant life or righteousness; instead, it highlights the inability of humanity to fulfill God's requirements. By demonstrating our inadequacy, the law pushes us to look to Christ, who is our only means of justification and salvation through faith.
