How does the new birth relate to election and predestination?

Answered in 1 source

The new birth is necessary for those elected by God to enter heaven, as it is an act of divine regeneration (John 3:7).

Election and predestination assure us that God has chosen His people for salvation. However, as emphasized in the sermon, being chosen is not sufficient for entry into heaven; one must also be born again. This new birth, performed by the Holy Spirit, is the means through which the elect come to faith in Christ. The sermon highlights that even though God's elect are predestined to glory, they still require regeneration to experience the new life that enables them to look upon Christ with faith and receive the gift of salvation that He offers.
