How does the Old Testament relate to Jesus Christ?

Answered in 1 source

The Old Testament foreshadows Christ and His work of redemption.

The Old Testament is full of types and shadows that point to Jesus Christ. In Leviticus, the sacrifices detailed represent the need for a substitutionary atonement for sin — a theme fulfilled in the New Testament through Christ's death and resurrection. As Jesus explained to His disciples in Luke 24, everything in the scriptures relates to Him, showing how He fulfills God's promises and the covenantal requirements through His sacrificial death. Each element of the sacrificial system in Leviticus ultimately illustrates the significance of Christ as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
