How does the preaching of the Gospel relate to the resurrection of dead souls?

Answered in 1 source

The preaching of the Gospel is the means by which God brings resurrection and new life to dead souls.

The relationship between the preaching of the Gospel and the resurrection of dead souls is foundational in Reformed theology. Ezekiel was commanded to prophesy to the dry bones, and this act of preaching is representative of the Gospel's power. The Apostle Paul affirms this in Romans 1:16, where he states that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. When the Word is proclaimed, it carries the authority needed for regeneration. Just as physical resurrection requires God's direct intervention, so does spiritual resurrection. Listening to the Gospel enables the Spirit to move, applying the work of Christ to individual lives, thus raising them from spiritual death to eternal life. Without the preaching of the truth, there can be no awakening or revival.
