How does the sacrifice of Christ relate to our guilt?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's sacrifice removes our guilt by bearing it on the cross, offering complete forgiveness to all who believe.

The sacrifice of Christ is the ultimate remedy for human guilt, as He bore our sins when He was sacrificed on the cross. In 2 Samuel 24, we see a foreshadowing of Christ's role when David pleads for the people of Israel, saying, 'Lay it all on me.' This mirrors the atonement seen in Christ, who took upon Himself the iniquities of us all (Isaiah 53:6). Romans 8:1 comforts us by declaring, 'There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.' This means that for those who trust in Christ, their guilt is completely removed, and the wrath of God is satisfied. Christ’s substitutionary atonement is significant; it affirms that justice has been met while grace abounds for repentant sinners.
