How does the second Adam, Christ, relate to the first Adam?

Answered in 1 source

Christ, the second Adam, redeems humanity by obedience, whereas the first Adam brought sin and death through his disobedience.

The relationship between the first Adam and the second Adam is pivotal in Reformed theology. Christ is referred to as the second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-47) because He succeeded where Adam failed. While Adam's disobedience led to the fall and sin entering into the world, Christ's obedience and sacrificial death brought redemption (Romans 5:19). Through Christ, those who are united with Him are made alive and justified. This demonstrates the transformative power of Christ’s new covenant, wherein believers are granted righteousness through faith in Him, counteracting the effects of the fall initiated by Adam.
