How does the story of Goliath relate to the struggle against sin?

Answered in 1 source

Goliath symbolizes the oppressive power of sin, which can only be defeated by Christ's victory.

Goliath represents the formidable enemy of sin that threatens the people of God. Just as the Israelites could not defeat Goliath on their own, so too, humanity is powerless against sin and its consequences. This narrative explicitly teaches that the victory over sin is won through divine intervention, culminating in the work of Christ. As David triumphed over Goliath, Christ has triumphed over sin and death through His obedience, bearing the full weight of sin on the cross so we might be free from its bondage. Thus, believers can find hope knowing that their struggles against sin are ultimately met with Christ’s victory.
