How does the tongue reflect the heart?

Answered in 1 source

The tongue reveals the heart's true condition, as Jesus taught that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Jesus taught that the tongue is a mirror of the heart, highlighting that what comes out of our mouths is an overflow of our innermost thoughts and feelings. In James 3, this principle is reinforced; the way we use our words reveals our spiritual state. A heart transformed by grace will produce sweet, uplifting words, while an unregenerate heart will lead to speech that is divisive or cruel. Therefore, guarding our speech is essential as it indicates whether our hearts are aligned with God's will and character.
