How does the Word of God produce humility in believers?

Answered in 1 source

The Word of God exposes our pride and leads us to a contrite heart before God.

The Word of God works powerfully to produce humility in the hearts of believers by illuminating their true condition before a holy God. As expressed in Psalm 19:13, David's plea for preservation from pride indicates an awareness of the human tendency toward arrogance. When believers encounter the greatness of God in Scripture, they are inevitably confronted with their imperfections. This revelation leads to a heart that is broken and humble, as reflected in Isaiah 6:5, where Isaiah, upon seeing God's holiness, declares, 'Woe is me! For I am undone.' Through the Holy Spirit, the Word causes believers to see their need for grace and fosters humility that results in a deeper worship and reliance on Christ.
