How does unbelief affect a person's ability to rest in God?

Answered in 1 source

Unbelief hinders a person's ability to rest in God, preventing them from entering into the promised rest provided by faith.

In Hebrews 4:2, it is stated that the word preached did not profit many who heard it because it was not mixed with faith. Unbelief leads to a failure to experience the rest that God offers. Just like the Israelites who could not enter the Promised Land due to their lack of faith, those who do not trust in Christ cannot experience the fullness of His rest. Their reliance on their own strength and works leads to a constant state of unrest and striving. In contrast, faith opens the door to spiritual rest, where one can fully rely on the grace of God instead of their efforts.
