How is Christ a mediator between God and man?

Answered in 1 source

Christ serves as the mediator between God and man by reconciling us through His sacrificial death, bridging the gap caused by sin.

Christ's role as a mediator is crucial in redeeming humanity. In 1 Peter 3:18, it states that 'Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God.' This highlights that Jesus, by virtue of both His divinity and humanity, bridges the chasm caused by sin. As the just one, He paid the penalty for our sins and restored our relationship with God. Without such mediation, we would remain estranged from God, but through Christ's sacrificial work, we can approach God with confidence. His role indicates not only repentance and forgiveness but also an ongoing relationship characterized by fellowship and communion with the Father, a privilege afforded through Christ alone.
