How is Christ's priesthood better than the Levitical priesthood?

Answered in 1 source

Christ's priesthood is superior because it is eternal and effective in fully atoning for sin, unlike the temporary Levitical system.

The Levitical priesthood operated under the old covenant and was characterized by its imperfection; it could never truly remove sins nor bring worshippers to perfection (Hebrews 7:11). In contrast, Christ's priesthood, as the perfect and eternal priest after the order of Melchizedek, provides a complete atonement for sin and ensures an eternal relationship with God (Hebrews 7:24-25). This signifies that believers have direct access to God through Christ's sacrificial work, as it was sufficient to satisfy divine justice fully. Paul underscores that the introduction of a new covenant under Christ was necessary to fulfill the divine promise and offer lasting redemption.
