How should a Christian handle a marriage with an unbeliever?

Answered in 1 source

A Christian should remain with an unbelieving spouse if they are willing to stay, but may separate if the unbeliever chooses to depart.

In 1 Corinthians 7, Paul instructs believers married to unbelievers to remain in the marriage as long as their spouse is willing to dwell with them (1 Corinthians 7:12-13). This is because the believing spouse brings a certain holiness to the marriage and to their children (1 Corinthians 7:14). If the unbelieving spouse, however, chooses to leave, the believer is not bound in that situation (1 Corinthians 7:15). It is essential for the believer to pursue peace in their marriage while seeking to exemplify Christ and possibly lead their unbelieving spouse to faith through their conduct and witness.
