How should Christians balance good works with the preaching of the gospel?

Answered in 1 source

Christians should use good works as a platform to share the gospel, not as a substitute for it.

The emphasis on good works in Scripture is not meant to supplant the necessity of preaching the gospel but rather to complement it. While engaging in good deeds, Christians should always maintain the primary goal of pointing others to Christ and sharing the message of salvation. Feeding the poor without addressing their spiritual needs is to offer temporary relief without the eternal hope found in Jesus. Therefore, good works should open the door for gospel conversations, creating opportunities for believers to express the transformative power of Christ in their own lives, as 1 Peter 2:11-12 urges us to live honorable lives among the Gentiles, that they may glorify God for our good works.
